Each Activyst piece is inspired by our adventures around the globe and designed at our home base in LA. Focusing on a balance of functionality and style, we collaborate with local prototypers to bring our vision to reality. Then we work with a variety of producers, each of whom focuses on responsible and high-quality production.

Our Statement Tees

Made in: Los Angeles

The Story: We were seeking t-shirts with an awesome selection of colors and blends, and we wanted to know where the actual tees were made. We found a supplier that fit the bill in the Fashion District of downtown Los Angeles, and then had the t-shirts printed near Activyst HQ in Hermosa Beach.

The Nicaragua Collection

Made in: Fabric made in Managua, Nicaragua and bags made in Orange County, CA, USA

The Story: While in Nicaragua, Katie discovered a bright, durable “macen” material used for everything from harvesting coffee to making hammocks. After a few leads and a chicken bus ride to the outskirts of Managua, she found the Nicaraguan family-owned factory that’s been making this material for over 50 years. Activyst’s inaugural line was made of material from this factory. The bags were made here in the US by two producers who continuously impress us with the quality of their craftsmanship.

The Bold Collection

Made in: Orange County, CA, USA

The Story: After requests for an expanded selection, these were made with a focus on the women who use them – vibrant and fun, yet smart and stylish. They were also infused with the colors that continue to inspire us – coral from awesome LA sunsets, and blues from Seattle lakes (Leigh’s home) and the ocean near Activyst HQ. This line includes a bag for every adventure: a new take on the Active bag, a convertible weekender-tote, and punchy cosmetic bags. It's made by the same producers who make the Nicaragua Collection.

Mexico Playa Totes

Made in: Oaxaca, Mexico

The Story: Katie was traveling in Mexico and, being the bag lady she is, couldn’t stop noticing the amazing handmade bags she spotted everywhere. These colorful, handwoven beach bags especially caught her eye. After tracking down the group of women in Oaxaca who handmake the bags in the local tradition, she knew she’d found the latest addition to the Activyst bag line.
